The invited guests were CDPO, Doctor from PHC centre, Sarpanch, Police In charge, ANMs, AWW, ASHA, CBO members, Panchyat members, Principal of the Tehtara school and 200 Adolescent girls and parents of some of the girls. CDPO in her inaugural address spoke to the girls on the importance education, aim in life and the need to empower themselves. The Police In charge spoke to the girls regarding their security and protection and how to inform police in case of any problem they face from the boys. Sakhi Project was then launched by the Chief guest by opening the PowerPoint presentation on Sakhi Project. Mr. Paul the Programme Manager highlighted the aims, objectives, and activities of Sakhi project to the participants. The CDPO and other government departments wholeheartedly welcomed the Project and assured their support.
Achievement of the project objectives
Most of the objectives of the projects have been productive, as the target group is making a vast difference in their life, and in their family as compared to previous living standard of the village. However, the effect on formation of groups which was targeted for 600 might be little aback, as there are lesser girls. This is regretful to have set for 600, if we think of today’s situation. But at the time of collecting baseline survey, there were girls. We could conclude that girls who were there in the village at that juncture were married off by a good number of them. If not, we could easily achieve the set target. We regret for the same.
The activities of GAD, previously was known only through newspaper publications, however today it has gone beyond to many more through TV channels. As recently three dioceses viz: Gorakhpur, Jaipur and Varanasi have edified the government concern and it has come in the news channel which is a great achievement for GAD program, and UKSVK is widely and after 25 years of Silver Jubilee celebration, it will be more eminent. We are happy to have a very good recognition.
